Companies: use your catered lunches wisely!

by Michelle on February 5, 2010

Think about how many times your company has a party, luncheon, catered team/department meetings in a year.

Now, think about how much uneaten food goes into the garbage afterwards.

I implore you all to think twice before you let all that delicious food go to waste!

Last week, MakeGood had a Team Meeting for the re-launch of our website and we had quite a bit of food leftover.

So what did we do? We hit the streets to hand deliver some meals to our less fortunate friends.

We fed about 12 people that day.

This man was really grateful for the MakeGood lunch platter.

Let’s make 2010 a good one… by being more mindful of the less fortunate. Whether they are in Haiti or in your local community - your help, large or small, can and will make a difference.

Thanks, MakeGooders!

Wow, that’s awesome; one person can make a difference!

I am new to the MakeGood community and I am so excited by what you guys are doing. These days companies need to be more than green, they have to be good corporate citizens.

I think it’s so great that you would go out of your way to help out people who need it. That food looks amazing and I can’t believe no one ate it! That man with the tray of food looks so happy! Great job! I myself, am a little nervous to hand out food - I’m afraid that people will be aggressive and angry as opposed to happy and thankful. You have certainly showed me that next time I order food for the office and no one eats it, instead of leaving it in the lunchroom for other people to eat, I’m going to make a conscious effort and decision to take it outside and make someone outside a little less hungry.

Thanks!

I totally agree. We donated to help people in Haiti or different parts in the world, but we often forgot about the those in our neighborhood. We should keep in mind that there are people here who needed as much help as those in other parts in the world.

Good idea! I did something like that before, and it feels really good when you know you have helped someone in need. You can see it in their eyes - they are thankful for what you done for them and at the same time you feel good about yourself.
